The Asia-Pacific Forum on Green and Low-carbon Development hosted by the Government of Hunan Province and Asian Development Bank (ADB) is the fifth forum to be conducted after the signing of the MOU between the Government of Hunan Province and the ADB in 2015. The past four forums were successfully conducted and attended by various high-level officials, business managers and experts from more than 40 countries and 10 UN agencies and international organizations, including Ban Ki-moon, the 8th UN Secretary-General, Xie Zhenhua, China’s Special Representative for Climate Change Affairs, etc. Three large-scale business networking events and four exhibitions on low-carbon technologies were convened in to enhance business cooperation amongst the participants.
The 2021 Forum will support the efforts of the Asia and the Pacific region in transitioning toward low carbon development. The two-day forum will include an opening ceremony, two plenary sessions, six parallel sessions, a hotpot business matching session, and a closing ceremony. A field visit will also be conducted on the third day. High level experts and business managers will be invited to share their knowledge and expertise in the fields of technology innovation, carbon emission and air pollution co-control and co-management, green and low-carbon architecture, low carbon energy access for rural revitalization, carbon market and climate investment & finance and etc.
Thanks ADB TA8953-promote sustainable for all in Asia and the Pacific-Sustainable energy for all regional hub for Asia and the Pacific (Subproject C) and Regional Knowledge Sharing Initiative (RKSI) for supporting the Forum. After 5 years of development, the Forum has become a flagship event for knowledge sharing and dissemination in the field of climate change in the Asia-Pacific region.
